The 2025 Autumn Market Exchange Conference of the Sulfur Industry
The conference was grandly held in Jiangxi from September 18th to 19th, hosted by the China Sulphuric Acid Industry Association. Representatives from upstream and downstream enterprises, trading companies, consulting institutions, professional associations, etc. of the sulfur industry chain attended the conference, and our company also sent representatives to participate.
According to customs statistics, from January to August 2025, China exported 3.0539 million tons of sulphuric acid, showing a significant year-on-year increase. Among them, the export volume in August was 435,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 10.7%.
The export price rose sharply. The average export price from January to August was $55.5 per ton, an increase of $33 per ton compared with the same period last year, with a growth rate of 146.4%. The average export price in August was $67.8 per ton, a month-on-month increase of 10.1%.
The top three export destinations were Chile, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia, accounting for 60.8% of the total export volume.
Industry insiders believe that:
The increase in international sulfur prices reflects the changes in global sulfur supply and demand;
The "dual carbon" policy has led to global crude oil consumption approaching its peak, and by-product sulfur is also approaching its peak;
The demand for copper driven by renewable energy is growing rapidly, while the supply of copper concentrate is tight, and processing fees are rapidly declining, which has suppressed the motivation for domestic copper smelting to increase production; The capacity of copper smelting acid in China's coastal areas continues to grow, and there is still a need to increase exports of smelting acid.
