Hydrofluioric acid is used to make most fluorine-containing compounds. Examples include the commonly used pharmaceutical antidepressant medication fluoxetine and the material PTFE. Elemental fluorine is produced from it. It also can be used for glass etching, metal cleaning, and electronics manufacturing.
